Ongoing from 2008-2012, this body of work marks my first explorations in flora and fauna. The works are encaustic and mixed media encaustic paintings on wood that express my interest in nature's complexity and fragility versus the detailed and intimate imagery of flowers. The paintings are significant to my practice because they illustrate the moments when floral wallpaper and fabrics first became a central motif in my work. During this time, I was also experimenting with poetry to accompany the paintings.
